Outline other related technological developments i.e. the emergence of technologies related to the case study.

There aren’t many other technologies out there that relate to an iron except for a Garment steamer. These steamers are more gentle when removing wrinkles from a piece of clothing and are also less likely to cause damage to any delicate fabric unlike an iron would. This is because there is no pressure when its being applied to the fabric fibres.

Garment steamers aren’t only just used on clothes however, they are able to be used on rugs, curtains and drapes. Garment steamers are most common in shops rather than for a home use, as it helps give a soft clean look.
These steamers aren’t a complete substitute for an iron but it does the same job, just differently.

Just like a clothes iron, a steam iron has its advantages and disadvantages. Advantages include, if the piece of clothing has wool, they will get the wrinkles out much faster and easier, as long as its at the right temperature and depends on how much steam is being used.

A disadvantage however, is at times depending on the fabric, it may take on marks from the holes in the steam iron.

These are images of a Garment steamer and how they work.
